Apollo 10 astronauts heard strange music while visiting the far side of the moon. Recordings dating back to 1969 show a hitherto-unknown aspect of the Apollo Astronauts’ mission to the moon: they had allegedly heard “music” on the far side of our satellite. The sound transmission lasted for around an hour according to a classified NASA document.
Apollo 10 was a manned mission to the far side of the Moon. It was launched in May 1969 as a “dress rehearsal” for the Moon landing that was scheduled 2 months later. The far side of the moon constitutes quite the mystery. Very little is known of it. Well, apparently, the Apollo astronauts heard a music-like radio sound right there.
When the astronauts entered into the lunar orbit, they had to pass by the far side of the moon where they were not in contact with the Earth for an hour. The lost recordings reveal the conversation of the three astronauts at that point: they discussed music-like sounds they were hearing through their headsets; one of them described it as “weird music”.
According to Science Channel series “NASA’s Unexplained Files“, the recordings included “strange, otherworldly music coming through the Apollo module’s radio“. The recordings will be played on the series by the end of this month.
The sound transmission lasted for around an hour. When the astronauts got into contact with the Earth again, they were unsure whether to share the incident or not.
It is to be noted that the transcripts of the Apollo 10 mission remained classified information, stored in NASA’s archives. Until 2008. The debate over the origin of the strange music started back then and is still ongoing.
